ANNULMENT

The overwhelming majority of marriages that end will end through the divorce process.  However, under certain circumstances, an annulment of the marriage is the appropriate action.  A marriage may be annulled for any cause which has prevented the parties from contracting a valid marriage.  For example, an annulment may be appropriate if the parties have never consummated the marriage, or if there was significant fraud, duress or coercion involved in obtaining the marriage.
